On July 3rd of 2000, the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation and Evergreen Hospital Medical Center opened the Booth Gardner Parkinson's Care Center in Kirkland, Washington. This center is helping patients, families, and caregivers deal with Parkinson's and a number of related movement disorders.
Parkinson's Disease has a unique impact on each individual and family. Symptoms are complex and they vary from patient to patient.
The goal of the Booth Gardner Parkinson's Care Center at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center is to improve the quality of life for both Parkinson's patients and their families through care that is both comprehensive and compassionate.
This center was designed based on a patient driven, multidisciplinary model. By this we mean it addresses all of the patients' concerns, not just medical needs. With a multidisciplinary program, it is easy to tailor the care to the individual patient.
If it's not a physical center for patients, it simply can't be recognized as a center. Typically, services have been scattered throughout medical facilities, or even shared amongst a number of facilities. This is just too difficult for many patients to deal with, and the circle of care is never completed. By founding this facility, we bring all facets of movement disorders treatment under one roof.
The Booth Gardner Parkinson's Care Center provides the expert care of neurologists, neuropsychologists, therapists, nutritionists, social workers and counselors all conveniently located under one roof. This team of specialists creates a care program tailored to the unique needs of each patient.
